Five ways to stay sane(ish) while you’re stuck at home

Let’s face it, if you’re “stuck” at home you’re one of the lucky ones. You’re not in hospital, either being treated or putting your life at risk as a key worker. But, if the most exciting part of your day is taking a trip to the fridge for some comfort food, you’re probably desperately searching for something to stave off the cabin fever. Here’s what the Totes Emosh creator, Dave, has been up to.

Cooking up a storm

If, like me, you’ve got some unexpected time on your hands, then dust off the forgotten cook book and start giving something new a go. I’m partial to some Joe Wicks Lean in 15 banana pancakes and a veggie Rogan Bosh ­– not in that order, obviously.

Have a ping pong ding dong   

Get yourself a set with a net and you can turn any sized table into a table tennis battle field. The smaller the table the bigger the challenge. We may be up s**t creek, but at least you’ll have a paddle.

Get around to reading

When I get home from work normally, all I want to do is sit in my pants and watch Netflix until I fall asleep. Books get bought, but they never get read. Well, quarantine has seen me plough through Grant Holt: A Real Football Life (yeah, I’m a Canary) and delve into Flights by Olga Tokarczuk (don’t worry, I can’t pronounce it either).

Enjoy a meditate date

Get everyone in your house together for a bit of shared stillness. You can get yourself a free headspace trial or find any number of great guided meditations on YouTube.

Get the funniest card game of the year and enjoy bundles of laughs with your lockdown posse. The whole family can pull crazy faces and laugh their heads off at one another. It’s quick to learn, suitable for pretty much all ages and an absolute bargain at just £7 including P&P.
